Mike Shojaat
Chief Executive Officer
Graduate Iowa State University – BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering, MBA – Nova SE University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Completed Doctoral Studies in International Business. Thirty two years’ experience contributing to engineering, operation, management, quality, marketing, pricing, sales, and implementation of organizational structure. Experience with Aviation Industry in global market, Research and Development, Sales, Domestic/International Trade, Transportation and Information Technology disciplines.
Carolyn Shojaat
Vice President of Finance
Thirty two years’ experience in corporate recruiting/interview examinations, research and development, contracts and sensitivities, internal/external policies, human resources and executes finance and resource management. Extensive assignments in projects of investigative and background reviews, employs a variety of interviewing, communication techniques and negotiation concepts.


Gene Ford
Business Development Manager
Gene joined GAR-MRO in 2000 and possesses a vast background in the aviation industry. His career originated with a 121 Operator in the Midwest where he served as manager of Planning and Programs. His background also includes nine years of management in inventory control of a major spice manufacturer working with overseas vendors. Gene is a Dale Carnegie graduate and utilizes his superb communication skills to develop strategic business relationships in the aerospace market, which includes technical research, marketing, and sales.
Heidi C. Steenberg
Human Resources & Accounting
Heidi earned her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree from Marquette University and is currently the Human Resources and Accounting Manager for Global Aviation Resources and GAR-MRO Services. Heidi has been a leader at Global Aviation Resources for the last 13 years, and assisted with the development of GAR-MRO since its inception. Currently, she oversees the Human Resources and Accounting departments, aviation parts exchange program, manages internal recruiting, and also assists in the leadership of the business development department.
Jacob Robertson
Service Manager
Earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Iowa State University. Prior to working for GAR-MRO, Jacob worked as a Fleet Coordinator for Werner Enterprises Inc.While in college, he gained job experience while working receiving for Kohl’s and Forward Air, Inc. With a combination of his work experience, education and being dedicated and hardworking, Jacob has the opportunity to excel at GAR-MRO.
Kaylea Cobb
Marketing, Administrative, and Repair Coordinator
Kaylea graduated from the University of Iowa with a major in Marketing and a minor in Communication Studies. While at the University of Iowa Kaylea worked in Human Resources where she further developed her communication and leadership skills. Shortly after graduation she joined the GAR-MRO Services team as a Marketing, Administrative, and Repair Coordinator. Through this position, Kaylea hopes to use the skills she gained at Iowa in order to successfully contribute to GAR-MRO Services’ growth. She assists with our Repair, Marketing, and Accounting departments.
Judy Blessington
Judy has been a part of the GAR-MRO team since 2011. Previously, she accumulated many years of experience working within business management fields. Her background includes an extensive knowledge and expertise in business/office management, accounting and marketing. Judy enjoys working together as a team to provide consistent customer satisfaction.

Repair Technicians

Timothy Harmer
Director of Quality Assurance and Continuous Process Improvement
Tim Harmer is the Director of Quality Assurance for GAR-MRO Services. Before starting at GAR-MRO Services, Tim worked in the Aviation community for 32 years. During that time he has had experience in the U.S. Army as an Aircraft Mechanic, was an Airplane and Helicopter business owner, a Manager of Life Flight program, as well as a FAA part 147 Manager. The Certificates he managed and operated as a Mechanic and Pilot include: FAA Part 133, 135, 137, 145, 147 and USDA. The Certificates Tim holds include: Airframe & Powerplant rating with Iowa (IA), a Certified Flight Instructor for Instrument Single Engine Land, a Multi-Engine Instructor for Instrument Multi Engine Land, and a Certified Flight Instructor for Instrument Helicopter.
Douglas Keller
Maintenance Repair Manager
Doug has 32 years of experience as an Avionics Technician with the 132d FW Iowa Air National Guard. His areas of expertise and capabilities include: Automatic Flight Controls (AFSC) and Analog as well as Digital Flight Controls (FLCS, DFLCS), and he also specializes in aircraft Radar, Instrumentation and Communication/Navigation systems. Doug has been a Training Manager, Financial Manager and Technical Manual Manager within the Iowa Air National Guard. Deployments from 1976 thru 2012 include Turkey (x 4), Kuwait (x2), Panama (x3), England, Germany, Japan (x2), Qatar, Korea, Iraq (x3), Afghanistan and Australia. Doug possesses in-depth knowledge and expertise, leadership skills and attention to detail in all areas of Avionics Maintenance. With his extensive accomplishments, GAR-MRO is sure to continue the expansion and product line capabilities.
Marvin Meyer
Senior Maintenance Repair
Marv graduated from Indian Hills Community College in 1976 with an Associate Degree in Aviation Maintenance. Since 1976 he has maintained his A&P Certification. Marv joined the Iowa Air National Guard in 1985 and retired as Senior Master Sergeant in 2009. He served as the Aircraft Maintenance Specialist for F-16 and A7 military aircraft. Deployments throughout his career at the Iowa Air Force include: Germany, Canada, Turkey, Kuwait and Iraq. Marv has continually and consistently worked in general aviation careers as an A & P Mechanic and currently volunteers at the Iowa Aviation Heritage Museum. Marv brings numerous years of experience, background and vast knowledge to GAR-MRO. His leadership and skills are an important function to the organization.
Lynn Zajicek
Senior Maintenance Repair
Lynn graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 1987 with an Associate Degree. Lynn’s work experience includes 33 years of in aviation aircraft maintenance and repair with the Air Force active duty and Iowa Air National Guard. Deployments from 1980 thru 2012 included: Germany, Spain, Guam (x 2), Japan (x2), England, Canada, Philippines, Turkey (x 3), Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq (x2) and Afghanistan. He has worked on numerous aircraft and engines, including: landing gear, flight controls and hydraulic systems. Lynn is dedicated and disciplined to performing quality maintenance. With his extensive experience, he is an integral part of GAR-MRO.
Matt Boddicker
Maintenance Repair & IT Manager
Matt joined our GAR-MRO team in 2015. He came to us with 17 years of experience in network administration and application development. In addition he also served 6 years in the Navy as a Data Systems Technician aboard the USS Independence and USS Blue Ridge.
Aaron Heer
Maintenance Repair
Aaron Heer joined GAR-MRO Services in April of 2019, after moving to Des Moines from Colorado, where he had worked for 13 years for an aviation repair company that services aircraft engines. While employed there, he learned a great deal of important information about the horizontally opposed Lycoming and Continental engines. Out of all of his experiences, he enjoyed non-destructive testing the most, and all of the fascinating and interesting parts he has inspected throughout the years. Aaron loves life and to learn something new every day. Aaron is pleased to bring his extensive knowledge to GAR-MRO Services.
Ashton Willcox
Maintenance Repair
Ashton joined GAR-MRO in 2018 when he graduated from Urbandale High School. He then graduated from Indian Hills Community College in the Spring of 2019. He has received his Associates in Applied Science Degree for Aviation Maintenance and is working towards his Federal Aviation Administration Airframe & Powerplant rating. He is currently gaining experience and also bringing fresh knowledge to GAR-MRO Services, as he works to complete his A & P rating.
Nestor Olvera-Perez
Maintenance Repair
Nestor joined The United States Marine Corps in 2014 and attended boot camp at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego and CNATT (Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training) at Camp Pendleton, California. Nestor was deployed in 2017 and attached to the 15th MEU. He served as an Avionics Technician for the UH-1Y and AH-1Z (Huey and Cobras). Nestor served for 5 years with HMLA-169 MAG-39 3d MAW. He left the Marines in 2019 as a Corporal, and joined GAR-MRO Services shortly thereafter. Nestor believes that safety and quality maintenance is key, and he brings his vast military knowledge and experience to GAR-MRO Services as a Repair Technician.
Shaun Monroe
Maintenance Repair
Shaun graduated from Indian Hills Community College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology. He has spent the last 5 years honing his aviation skills with a dedication and focus that has produced his Federal Aviation Administration Airframe & Powerplant authorizations. Shaun’s aviation experiences have brought forth a solid and verified skill-set that complements and expounds upon our years of expertise at GAR-MRO Services. Shaun has shown his value and dedication to assisting in the repair of the Pneumatic and Sensor lines.
Cody Stoler
Maintenance Repair
Cody graduated from Indian Hills Community College with his A.A.S. in Aviation Maintenance Technology, Airframe License, as well as the Avionics Technology Degree that led to the FCC GROL License. His valuable industry knowledge and experience has included aircraft and vehicle maintenance, as well as using precision tools and equipment. Cody possesses solid skills and discipline in aviation maintenance. These industry-recognized skills are being used with great success in GAR-MRO Services’ Pneumatic, NDI, and Avionics/Sensors arenas.
